What a cool venue! A cosy and lovely pub on one side and a super cool gig/live music spot just through a couple of sets of doors. Loved it!

Has an amazing set up for live music. Top quality equipment!
Local products and you can get food next door (chippy) and take it in.

One of THE best places to go for a night out. Brian was wonderful as a host. Just go there for drinks and a bit of food and a brilliant night out

Parking: Around. And the backs are free parking and safe
Kid-friendliness: I would recommend to kids bring some toys or bikes around to ride on big massive grass or play with your toys in the shaded area or on the grass

Well that was a pleasant surprise. Have you been to the Barrel and met Brian (guy with the flat cap and braces)? Well ask him to see the concert venue. Locked away at the rear is the most amazing live music venue for miles. 20,000 watt PA, full HD, 4 camera recording for streaming gigs and a well lit stage is just the start of this treasure trove. The robots hanging from the ceiling are sureal too, and the beer is fantastic. I'll drink to that.

Very friendly people working here. The Sessions singer/songwriter evening was a nice memorable night out on our vacation. Check out the great local beers and lemonades!

This is a wonderful pub just over the road from Banham Zoo and the Applewood Countryside Park campsite. They open from 4pm during the week and from 12pm at weekends.
The pub is run by Brian and has been since 2017. Since our last visit during the first lockdown they have erected a canvas canope at the front of the pub so that people can enjoy a drink in all weathers.
Brian and his staff are diligent about checking in on the NHS track and trace app and offer table service only currently. The variety of drinks is vast and since the last lockdown, they are trying to source as many locally produced drinks and snacks as possible. They don't serve food as there is a fully functioning kebab, pizza and fish & chips takeaway next door and an extensive shop and a separate butchers / delicatessen very close by.
I would suggest getting there early so as you get a table outside as it is busy during school half terms and at weekends.
Overall, a visit to Banham is not complete without a visit to The Barrel for just a pint or for a longer visit. It is very family friendly with ample outdoor seating and a massive playing field.
